Traveling can be such an eye opening and positive experience. I for one love the whole traveling process; the planning, the packing and picking of your seat. The mad rush to your gate, like you’re a McCallister kid from Home Alone, only to sit there for two hours. If you are someone who craves adventure, these travel tips and tricks are a must. Traveling on your own or with a group of friends can be very stressful if you don’t plan accordingly. My experiences at the airports are often as smooth as they can be, and it may have to do with these tricks I’ve learned along the way.

Arrive Ninety Minutes Early for your Flight.

This time frame gives you an hour to wait in the security line without anxiety. Then you’ll have a half hour to readjust post scan, go to the restroom or stop by Starbucks. This time frame has worked best for me because you never really know how long security check in is going to take, but it usually doesn’t take over an hour.

Bring Hand Sanitizer and Disinfect Wipes in your Carry On.

Use the wipes for your arm and head rest and tabletop before each flight. Germs are everywhere!

Snacks are a Must for a Long Flight!

Bring something salty and sweet to satisfy those cravings. My go to flight snacks are dried fruit, trail mix or almonds.

Bring Something to Read.

If you are not one for paging through a novel, bring a magazine to pass the time.

Headphones, headphones, headphones!

Headphones are a must! Trust me! The worst thing in the world on a flight is not being able to listen to your favorite playlist or podcast because you forgot your headphones.

Clothing Options on a Plane.

Always go with comfort over fashionable. Let’s be honest, no one cares what you look like on the plane. If you’re dressed to the nines you won’t enjoy your flight at all. My must haves include leggings or a great pair of stretchy jeans. When I dress for flights I always go with a layered look. Heavy sweaters, thermal long sleeves or a cardigan are all perfect options. A warm chunky scarf is great for flights because it can get chilly! I found a great one at TJ Maxx and I love it! It’s so cozy! For shoes, pick a comfy ankle boot or slip on sneaker.

Best Podcasts for Flights:

Armchair Expert: Listen to Dax Shepard & Monica Padman interview your favorite celebrities. These episodes are at least two hours long so this podcast is perfect for a long flight.

Girls Gotta Eat: Comedians Ashley Hesseltine & Rayna Greenberg discuss relationships, dating and the motivation to be your best self!

The Rewatchables: Do you have a movie you watch over and over again? Listen as a round table of comedians discuss your favorite movies!

Sibling Revelry: Listen to my favorite brother/sister duo Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson as they explore the bond of siblings and discuss how two people who grew up in the same household can be so different!

Brad Behavior: Stylist to the stars and author Brad Goreski interviews celebrities and friends to discuss fashion, pop culture and life.

Safe & Happy travels!
