Winter blues can be a real thing and as the temperature drops so can your confidence. The New Year will bring new possibilities. But how many of you have put your dreams on hold because you didn’t feel confident enough to do something about it? Do you ever have a moment when you get excited about a new opportunity or a a new adventure and then it is immediately out shined by a cloud of doubt? That voice comes into your head and the fear sets in.
Fear can be a tricky thing to overcome, but overcoming our egos can be harder. Ego is unpleasant. It can be dramatic and make you take things personally. Comparing your life to others is what feeds our low self-esteem and that’s when fear can set in. When fear and ego get together it can be a storm. They have a tendency of wanting to control our lives and they want to be in charge of the situations; and we often let them! Why is that? Why do we give fear and anxiety such power over our lives? Enough is enough! Let’s toss fear to the side. Let’s silence that low self-esteem. Life choices and new adventures can be scary, but if you focus on yourself and realign your thoughts, it will give you a new prospective on life, and build your confidence to extraordinary heights.

I hope these tips help you build your confidence and reach your dreams! Here are three ways to overcome fear and silence that nasty anxiety.
1. Be Aware.
Awareness is an important skill to have when overcoming fear. Be aware when those negative thoughts seep into your brain. Negative thoughts are just that, negative. They are not helpful, but they are pointless. When you hear that voice in your head you have the choice to change your narrative. Push those negative thoughts out. By being aware of your fear and ego you can control it. Focus on becoming your most authentic self.
2. Be Present.
Forget the past, it’s over and done with. You can’t change it so why dwell on it. Being present can be challenging. Our minds are racing a mile a minute and we are constantly thinking about last week, this week, next year or ten years from now. Does that help you? No. Being fully present means focusing on the now. Focus your attention, your thoughts and your feelings on what is happening right now. By being in the moment you can eliminate your fear of the unknown and silence your mind.
3. Think Positively.
If you think positive, positive things will happen. Sure, that may not sound convincing but I promise it’s true. When it comes to reaching your goals positivity is important in reaching your potential. Everything happens for a reason. Why not look at every situation from a positive angle. By thinking positively you will be able to change your narrative and eliminate those fears. Remember, negativity feeds your anxiety which feeds your fear. Shut that negativity down and replace it with positive thoughts.
Let’s not let these winter blues predict how the rest of our year will go. Your goals are important and they are worth reaching!
