Hello from my self-quarantined space! It’s been about a week since the coronavirus (or COVID-19) outbreak here in my town and social distancing is in full effect. Anybody else going a little nuts? Whether you think this is a big deal or not, it has affected everyone and everything in our world. Your weekends suddenly have freed up. People are working from home. Grocery store shelves are sparse. So what do we do now?

First, let’s all take a deep breath. Feel better? Sure, maybe not entirely. But it is important to stay calm and think of this as an opportunity. What are those things you have been wanting to do but never had the time for before? Use this time to your advantage. Paint something awesome, bullet journal, organize your closet. How lucky are we to have a clean slate each day to make the day whatever we want it to be. The world is scary right now, your oasis doesn’t have to be.

This is also a reminder to practice kindness. I’m not trying to scare you but the coronavirus is happening and if they are suggesting we stay home to prevent the virus from spreading, why not just listen? This virus is spreading so be aware of it and be conscious of the people who are at high risk.

How can you make this time enjoyable (and bearable)? Here are some ideas of what you can do to not go stir crazy!

Make Your Home Cozy: Since most of us are inside, why not make our spaces cozy. Start with your bedroom because let’s be honest, most of us will not be leaving our beds during this time. Change your sheets, vacuum, dust and disinfect all furniture. Then, decorate your space with some string lights, a candle and plenty of blankets and pillows.

Purge your closets: This is the perfect opportunity to organize your closet and get rid of some items that you haven’t used in years. Your clothes closet may not be the only closet in need of some organization. What about your kitchen cabinets? Coat closet? Linen closet? Organize them all. Organization is a great stress reliever!

Self-Care: Spend some time meditating, relaxing with a face mask or enjoying a glass of wine. All of these options will relieve some stress and make you feel more relaxed in your home!

Stream a tv series or movie: Quarantine season is the perfect excuse to binge watching all your favorite movies and tv shows!

Bake a Sweet Treat: If you’re looking for a way to be productive try baking a sweet treat or cooking a delicious meal.

Read: Anybody else spend hours in Barnes&Noble and leave with multiple books that just end up on your nightstand? Spend your time diving into one of those books you’ve been dying to read.

Listen to a podcast: Podcasts have definitely taken the world by storm and you can find one on pretty much every topic.

Facetime friends or family: This time can be lonely if you live alone, but technology is a great thing. Schedule some time to facetime with family or your best friend. It’s like a virtual coffee date!

Online shopping: With the stores being closed many companies are trying to make ends meet and they are having massive sales! Now is the perfect time to shop online for your favorite must haves.

YouTube workouts: Workout tutorials give you the real gym experience right from your home! Barre3 is my favorite but there is also tons of other videos that will fit your workout style. Find yours now!

I know these recent events have left your future uncertain, but let’s try to be optimistic. This will pass. Remember to enjoy the ride and be kind.
